SIA Security Officer Training

About the Qualification
The Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry is designed for individuals who wish to apply for an SIA Security Officer licence and work in roles such as retail security, corporate security, site guarding, gatehouse duties and other static guarding positions across the UK.

This qualification provides learners with the essential knowledge, practical understanding and professional standards required to operate safely, lawfully and effectively within the private security sector. Training is delivered in accordance with current qualification specifications and regulatory requirements.

Course Duration
This qualification is typically delivered over 4 days of classroom-based training in line with current requirements.

Learners must complete all guided learning hours and successfully pass the required assessments to achieve certification. Full attendance is mandatory.

Assessment Method

Entry Requirements
Age Requirement:
Learners must be 18 years of age or older at the time of enrolment.

English Language Requirement
Learners must have sufficient English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to understand course materials and complete assessments. An initial assessment may be conducted prior to enrolment.

Identification – Acceptable Forms of ID
Learners must provide valid and original identification documents at enrolment in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Typically accepted forms of identification may include:
• Passport
• UK Driving Licence (photocard)
• Biometric Residence Permit
• National Identity Card (where applicable)

Where required, additional supporting documentation may be requested.
All identification must be original, valid and in date.

Proof of Address
A recent proof of address (issued within the last 3 months) may be required at enrolment.

Acceptable documents may include:
• Utility Bill
• Bank Statement
• Council Tax Letter
• Official Government Correspondence

Documents must clearly display the learner’s name and current address.

Additional Requirements
Learners should ensure they meet all SIA licensing criteria before applying for a licence. Licensing decisions are made by the Security Industry Authority and may include checks relating to criminal history and right to work in the UK.

Certification
Upon successful completion of the course and assessments, learners will receive a regulated qualification certificate and may apply for an SIA Security Officer licence, subject to meeting all licensing criteria.

Some SIA courses (such as Door Supervisor, Door Supervisor Refresher) may require:
Completion of a First Aid qualification (EFAW or equivalent), valid within the last 12 months.
